Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom gave reporters a preview of what to expect in the candidate’s 2010 tax return, which they are expected to make public tomorrow. But it doesn’t sound like any more returns are coming soon.
“I think you’ll see three takeaways, maybe four,” Fehrnstrom said after Monday’s debate in Tampa. “First is he made a lot of money. Second is he paid a lot of money in taxes. Third is he was very generous to charity. And the fourth is he paid 100% of what he owed the government.”
Democratic officials are calling on Romney to release more years worth of tax returns, including returns dating back to when he his finances were more closely entwined with Bain Capital. Asked whether the Romney campaign considered the tax issue settled by releasing a year of returns, Fehrnstrom replied, “I think so.”
“You’ll see the governor is putting out more information than any Republican candidate running this year,” he said. “It is a voluminous return and I’m sure you people will go through it.”
