Cable news networks pour a lot of resources into election-night coverage, with giant iPad-like devices, holograms, and so on. But with the Michigan Republican primary coverage stretching late into Tuesday night, the networks had to kill time the old fashioned way.
Jon Stewart was delighted to see Wolf Blitzer marvel at CNN’s election board. “The last time I saw someone this excited about numbers changing was a vampire made out of felt,” Stewart said.
Anderson Cooper decided to kill time by taking a leisurely stroll to CNN’s election cube, where busy reporters chattered on headsets.
“So CNN’s cube, or ‘nerd terrarium,’ if you will, is populated with individuals on headsets,” Stewart said. “Yet to get some information from them, you must pack some gorp and hike the canyon.”
But Cooper had to look for news elsewhere, taking a walk of shame back to the main studio.
