Remember Jan Brewer, the whacky Republican Governor of Arizona who talked about decapitated heads out in the desert and all the rest? Well, she’s become a warrior for Obamacare in her state. Go figure.

Because I have people I know who are affected it (and frankly we all do or will) I could not be happier that the Supreme Court, unanimously, has struck down a private company’s ability to patent a naturally occurring gene in your body.

There is certainly a place for modalities that incentive critical research that can save lives. But the idea that naturally-occurring genes (the existence of which can be critical to your health) can be patented and thus owned was simply a crazy path to go down.
