A Monmouth University poll released Monday found celebrity tycoon and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump maintained a commanding lead of New Hampshire days before the second GOP debate.

Trump led the poll of likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire with 28 percent support.

Retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson took second with 17 percent support and Ohio Gov. John Kasich earned 11 percent. No other candidates reached double digits in the days before the CNN debate on Wednesday.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush dropped from second place in a July poll to fifth in the latest and was tied with former technology executive Carly Fiorina at 7 percent.

The poll was conducted from Sept. 10 to 13 by telephone among 415 voters in New Hampshire likely to vote in the Republican presidential primary. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.8 percent.
