I thought deferring the Israel, read Jew, question to the end was okay, and I think his implication that the charge of antisemitism is like the smears of Dukakis, Kerry, etc. Good tactic. But there is, in the record, some history regarding Israel and Jews, which as a Jew who has followed and worked in AA communities, I kind of get it. But also as a Jew, I want him to address, directly, the question of antisemitism or his attitude toward Israel, and saying he supports Obama’s approach, by the way, is just fine with me. It does raise the question, however, is whether the Democratic party can be successful with a 50/50 split on Israel, as recent polls show.
The lunchbucket talk is just right. I also support his idea of a Democratic party that can include anti-choice and pro-gun folks. In other words, the party balances more between rights/culture folks and economic folks. Works for me.
