A prolonged security clearance process has left incoming White House counsel Pat Cipollone behind the eight ball as he scrambles to fill the many vacancies in his office while Special Counsel Robert Mueller and House Democrats loom ever closer.

According to a Tuesday Politico report, Cipollone is tapping people with experience to help him oversee investigations, judicial nominations, national security and ethics.

He has dozens of positions yet to fill, something of a pressure cooker as Democrats inch closer to taking over the House and likely flooding his office with investigations into President Donald Trump’s conduct.
