UPDATE: 12:24 p.m.:

ANTIGO, Wis. (AP) — An 18-year-old gunman opened fire outside of a high school prom in northernWisconsin, wounding two students before a police officer who was in the parking lot fatally shot him, authorities said Sunday.

The attack happened late Saturday outside the Antigo High School prom, said Eric Roller, the chief of police in Antigo, a community of about 8,000 people roughly 150 miles north of Milwaukee.

Roller said the gunman — later identified as Jakob E. Wagner — shot the two students as they exited the building, though he didn’t say if investigators believe they were specifically targeted or discuss a possible motive for the attack.

“Officers were in the parking lot patrolling the activities and heard the shots and an officer immediately fired upon the shooter, stopping the threat,” he said. He said the gunman was then taken into custody.

Wagner and the two victims — a male and female whose identities haven’t been released — were taken to hospitals. Langlade County Coroner Larry Shadick told The Associated Press that Wagner died shortly after 1 a.m. in the intensive care unit of a Wausau hospital. He said further details would have to come from police. Roller didn’t respond to repeated requests for further information.

The female victim was treated and released and the male victim was undergoing surgery for injuries that weren’t life-threatening, police said.

After the attack, students were escorted from the prom to safety and the victims’ families were notified.

  1. Lots of We The People are madder than hell these days at the government, or just in general when suffering the collapse of their lives due to the corrupt Washington, DC regime, and taking out their anger against the wrong / irrelevant targets / proxy targets. The actual targets should be more well considered if one of these madmen wants to “make a difference”, or assuage their anger. The anger is everywhere I look, in peoples’ attitudes and confrontational behaviors. I attribute most of it to destruction of our lives by the banks / energy industries (in many ways, much of it environmental and poisoning of all life, including ours) and Wehrmacht (which sucks down all of our money for worldwide genocide). Plenty of reason for anger but wrong targets mostly.

  2. My solid guess, assailant was an anglo Trump supporter. Perhaps angry that his community has become more integrated. Some of those students might even by intermingling. The fact that he can’t go out on a Saturday night and have a little target practice, and exercise his second ammendment rights is just so “PC” //s Either that or he’s a student who got rejected by a girl and brought his 30-06 instead. Pure conjecture, but still certain he’s white.

  3. Energy industries? Please elaborate on how the energy industries have personally made your life worse?

Drip…drip…drip. These horrifying incidents occurring on a daily basis…are building to a crescendo…and, at some point, people are going to demand change. I have no idea when the tipping point will occur, but I hope it’s very soon.

  5. wisconsin is 86.2% white. Assuming people go crazy at an equal rate across race, you have an almost 90% chance of having guessed correctly. How about you wait a little while before digging for motive?
