CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A teacher’s strike is keeping public schools closed for a third day in West Virginia.

The state Department of Education’s website shows all school districts are closed in all 55 counties Monday morning.

Gov. Jim Justice has signed teacher pay raises of 2 percent next year and 1 percent the following two years. But West Virginia’s teacher pay ranks 48th in the nation, and teachers say the increases are too stingy, especially as health care costs more.

West Virginia Education Association President Dale Lee said thousands of teachers are returning to the state Capitol in Charleston Monday to raise pressure on the Legislature and governor.

WV to teachers: Take it or leave it! Who cares that your entire eensy weensy raise disappears due it increased insurance costs. Suck it. Oh - and start carrying guns to protect our students because guards cost too much.

    I stand with these teachers.

  2. These teachers should vote Republican. Then, they can have their union dissolved, lose the right to strike, be fired on the spot, and pursue their dreams of becoming entrepreneurs. Problem solved.

Ingrates. Raise someone above the 50th spot and they start believing they should have gold toilets.

  4. What impact will that strike have on the future coal miners of Amurika?

    What about the minor miners?
