President Donald Trump is undecided as to whether he’ll declare a national emergency in order to build his desired wall across the southern border, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing unnamed “top administration officials.”
Trump and others in his administration have admitted that he is publicly mulling declaring an emergency to construct the wall, which would immediately draw legal challenges and uncertainty regarding how such a declaration would actually lead to wall construction.
White House Communications Director Bill Shine told the Journal that Trump’s scheduled primetime address Tuesday night “is expected to last between seven and eight minutes,” in the Journal’s words.
Unnamed officials told the Journal that there “is little expectation” that a funding deal will be reached in the coming days, given Trump’s demand for $5 billion for a border wall.
Wouldn’t an emergency be obvious? Sort of like a fire?
I might declare an emergency. I might not. We’ll see. We’ll find out very very soon, perhaps in two weeks.
He’s blinking again. Life’s hard out there for an authoritarian wimp. You want to be a big, strong leader, but you go beta (heck, gamma) every time. What’s one to do? Sit in the residence and eat cheeseburgers, I guess.
He should hurry up making his mind, 9:00 PM will be here in a flash…
First you say you will and then you won’t. Then you say you do and then you don’t. You’re undecided now so what are you gonna do?
In other words, Donnie made up his mind to declare an emergency and what few sane advisors he has left are desperately trying to convince him of just how badly that will go for him.
