President Obama and Congressional Democrats have been rigorously working with union officials to arrive at a consensus on the controversial excise tax provision in health care reform legislation. But at least one union leader remains unhappy with the efforts.
Harold A. Schaitberger, president of the International Association of Fire Fighters, released this in a statement today:
“It appears that a number of changes have been made to the excise tax provision of the health care reform bill to ease the burden on working Americans, but I’m disappointed that the excise tax remains in the bill. The IAFF’s position remains consistent – the excise tax is bad policy and bad politics.
