Original Story:
William Barr, the former attorney general President Trump nominated to replace the ousted Jeff Sessions, refused to meet with Democratic senators on the Judiciary Committee, Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) because of the “shutdown.”
However the shutdown didn’t stop Barr from meeting with several Republican senators this week, including Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA).
I tried (as did Blumenthal) to get meeting w/AG nominee Barr and was told he couldn’t meet until AFTER the hearing. The reason given? The shutdown. Yet shutdown didn’t stop him from other mtgs. This is a 1st for me w/any nominee as a member of judiciary. #Uncool #BadSign

Setting a very low Barr, fella…
They’ve given up on actually trying to give plausible excuses. The well was always mostly dry with that crew of D-list talent.
Well, the AG nominee is starting off well by lying to several Senators. Just what you want to hear from the highest law enforcement officer in the nation. What the hell though, the last SC Judge did that throughout his confirmation hearing.
Advise and Consent, We Hardly Knew Ye!
He didn’t want to give a false impression of fairness.
