Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele is — surprise, surprise! — very disappointed in the Democrats.
In a statement released moments ago, Steele said it was “unconscionable” for the Democrats to “exploit” the Gulf oil spill for “crass political fundraising.”

It is unconscionable that Democrats would seek to exploit for crass political fundraising a tragedy that killed 11 Americans and threatens to become the worst environmental disaster in American history. At a time when questions are being asked about the White House’s initial response to the incident, the Democrats’ political machine has gotten far out ahead of basic human decency. Since these funds would go to candidates President Obama has campaigned for, it is incumbent on the President to condemn these practices in the strongest possible terms.
Because, y’know, the Republicans would never raise money off a national tragedy…
