On MSNBC today, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) said he was sick of Republicans “whining about the cost” of the health care bill, which he said is “not intellectually honest.”

When asked about Sen. Judd Gregg’s (R-NH) comments about the price tag of the bill, Brown said he was somewhat surprised by them since Gregg was among those who “voted for cloture back on the Medicare privatization, the giveaway to the drug and insurance industry in 2003. They didn’t try to pay for that, they didn’t even try to pay for the war in Iraq.”

He continued:

I’m just getting tired of them whining about the cost of this, when we do pay for it. The Congressional Budget Office, not Harry Reid, not Dick Durbin, not the Senate Democrats, not Barack Obama, its the Congressional Budget Office, which always plays it straight and plays it fair. They said this bill will actually reduce the deficit.

“When I hear Judd Gregg and others, who voted for a war that wasn’t paid for, who passed the Medicare giveaway to the drug companies six years ago and didn’t pay for it, it’s just not intellectually honest,” said Brown.
