Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) and Fox News host Sean Hannity got into a Twitter fight Tuesday night after Hannity reacted to the unflattering passages about him in Sasse’s new book, “Them: Why We Hate Each Other And How To Heal.”
Hannity started the spat, accusing Sasse of going “BERSERK” in a tweet.

Sasse retorted.
If you write a book about the outrage merchants that are dividing America and you fail to mention Sean Hannity because he’s in your party, you aren’t being honest.#Them https://t.co/F9QJIoUtvW https://t.co/QxD7YEOavE

The senator then challenged Hannity to a debate.
.@seanhannity –
I invite you to come out from behind the safety of your cable news desk and join me at a neutral forum to debate the role of the media—Left and Right—in dividing us.
Honest conversation isn’t where the quick-hit $ and ratings are — but it’d be good for America. https://t.co/ho8IMTZ80j

Hannity went off, releasing a series of tweets accusing Sasse of being a “phony” who “sucked up” to him during the election, and who wanted Hillary Clinton to win the 2016 election.
Ted Koppel did a great job of summarizing Hannity’s schtick: https://youtu.be/tmaKl0Zm2c4 .
Time to haul out the overused but appropriate poem:
Ode to Sean Hannity
by John Cleese
Aping urbanity
Oozing with vanity
Plump as a manatee
Faking humanity
Journalistic calamity
Intellectual inanity
Fox Noise insanity
You’re a profanity
Hannity
John Cleese is an international treasure.
Hard to disagree with Hannity, Sasse does talk a lot but at the end of the day he always votes with Trump or whatever the GOP leadership tells him to do, he is no better than Susan Collins or Flakey Flake. Absolutely no spine.
The retiring senator then challenged Hannity to a debate.
Unless Sasse announced his plans to retire recently and I missed it this is probably not the best word choice for this situation.
