WASHINGTON (AP) — A summary of computer logs show that four aides to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign accessed proprietary voter data compiled by the campaign of rival Hillary Clinton.

And the records also show that the aides conducted 25 separate searches of voter information and some saved the results.

That’s according to a person familiar with the data logs and the breach. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

The person says the data represents millions of dollars of Clinton campaign investment.

The database of voters is maintained by a vendor for the Democratic National Committee, which has temporarily barred Sanders’ campaign from accessing it.

Sanders’ campaign has fired its national data director and planned to hold a news conference on Friday afternoon.

Ooops. Why, oh why, did you do it, Bernie? Can’t get enough traction in the polls? Or what?

  2. I don’t think this was Bernie, per se. He has a lot of youngish devoted people on staff. I think they saw the opportunity and went with it. It was a mistake and one of them has been fired already. Certainly the “we saw the breach and wanted to know how much information could have been accessed by the Clinton campaign” excuse was lost once they downloaded information. I really want to see how Bernie handles this from here out.

NOTE: Suing the DNC is not handling it the way I think he should.

  3. Looks like intentional theft.

  4. No respect for the Sanders campaign after today’s shenanigans.

  5. I like Bernie. I like him, a lot. But, this is bad. All four needed to be fired immediately, not just one. Bernie needs to make sure that the data is removed from his system permanently and returned to the DNC. Also, suing the DNC is a bad move. I can understand the DNC having some serious trust issues and cutting him off until things can be done in a more secure manner seems like the right call to me.
