Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) said today that sending prisoners detained for years at Guantanamo Bay back to Yemen is “almost like you’re sending recruitment back to Al Qaeda.”

Wolf, who has sent five letters to the administration calling for President Obama to stop sending detainees to Yemen, said on Fox News today that this is a “dangerous situation” and these men pose a “direct threat to the United States.”

Wolf continued: “It’s almost like you’re sending recruitment back to Al Qaeda to come and learn and take their technology and operations to kill us.”

He also said “we’re doing missile strikes against Al Qaeda in Yemen, why would you then send people from Guantanamo Bay back to join Al Qaeda?”

“Do not send anyone back to Yemen period. Nor should they go back to Afghanistan or Somalia land,” said Wolf.
