Former President Clinton has undergone a procedure at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
A spokesman released this statement:
Today President Bill Clinton was admitted to the Columbia Campus of New York Presbyterian Hospital after feeling discomfort in his chest. Following a visit to his cardiologist, he underwent a procedure to place two stents in one of his coronary arteries. President Clinton is in good spirits, and will continue to focus on the work of his Foundation and Haiti’s relief and long-term recovery efforts. In 2004, President Clinton underwent a successful quadruple bypass operation to free four blocked arteries.
Local news station NY1 is reporting that Clinton is already back home.
A hospital source also told NBC that Clinton came into the hospital under his own power. NBC is also reporting that Clinton called his cardiologist two days ago because he wasn’t feeling well, and the appointment scheduled for yesterday was postponed to today.
Clinton had quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 at the same hospital.
ABC is also reporting that Clinton’s wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was seen leaving a meeting with President Obama a short time ago.
Late update: CNN now reports that Secretary of State Clinton is heading to New York.
