Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi responded to President Trump’s decision to back down from the State of the Union fight by urging Trump to support a spending package that would reopen the government.
Mr. President, I hope by saying “near future” you mean you will support the House-passed package to #EndTheShutdown that the Senate will vote on tomorrow. Please accept this proposal so we can re-open government, repay our federal workers and then negotiate our differences. https://t.co/57KMATZZTO

After a day of back-and-forth between Trump and Pelosi, Trump eventually caved, tweeting it was Pelosi’s “prerogative” to change the date of the address.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Nancy Pelosi is magnificent!
Has anyone noticed how, um, “Presidential” she sounds? (I would have said something about “statesmanship”, but that gender signifier is particularly inapt in these times.)
Tired old leadership. Not a fighter, too beholden to special interests, not going to effectively challenge Trump. Didn’t it go something like that?
What say ye now, fellas?
Where would we be now if the Dems hadn’t retaken the House and put Pelosi at the helm? We’d be way beyond Never, Never Land.
Makes you shudder just thinking about it, doesn’t it?
