Sarah Palin has denied that by blacking out Sen. John McCain’s name on a campaign visor she was demonstrating her ill-will toward her former running mate. Rather, she says, she was trying to “be incognito” when on vacation in Hawaii with her family.

Yesterday, TMZ posted pictures of Sarah Palin wearing a McCain campaign visor with McCain’s name blacked out, stirring up talk of bad blood between the 2008 running mates.

TMZ said that “for the first time ever, Sarah Palin used her head to make a searing political comment — a frontal attack on Sen. John McCain.”

Palin fired back yesterday with a statement to Politico, asserting that redacting McCain’s name was an attempt to “be incognito” on her vacation:

I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito.

The Palin family was in Hawaii for some downtime following a book tour for Sarah Palin’s autobiography, “Going Rogue: An American Life.”
