BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan (AP) — President Barack Obama has slipped into Afghanistan to see U.S. troops serving in America’s longest war.

Air Force One arrived Sunday at the main U.S. base in Afghanistan after an overnight flight from Washington.

Obama is expected to spend just a few hours at Bagram Air Field. He has no plans to meet with outgoing Afghan President Hamid Karzai (HAH’-mihd KAHR’-zeye). Karzai has had a rocky relationship with the White House.

Obama is considering keeping a small number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan for training and counterterrorism missions beyond year’s end. The U.S. and NATO are withdrawing most of their forces by then.

Karzai has refused to sign a security agreement that the U.S. needs to keep troops in Afghanistan. The candidates running to succeed Karzai say they will sign.

Six years of murder and mayhem, and more to come America - but it isn’t the president’s war. It’s all Bush’s fault. Watching the Apologists today should be amusing. And of course, pathetic.

I recall the Democrats outcry when President Bush made a surprise visit to the same airbase on a Thanksgiving day a few years back. His visit was labeled a publicity stunt and whatnot by foul mouthed, insults spewing Liberals upset about this war.

6 years on his Presidency and with approval ratings at historic lows, here comes President Obama. I won’t hold my breath waiting for the same kind of treatment, double standards are very high on that segment of the population.
