President Obama this afternoon said the ‘hero’s welcome’ that Lockerbie bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi received in his home country of Libya was “highly objectionable.”

Following his remarks on the presidential election in Afghanistan, a reporter asked, “What about the hero’s welcome in Libya, sir?” Obama responded, “I think it was highly objectionable.”

Al-Megrahi arrived in Libya on Thursday and was greeted by hundreds of Libyans waving national flags at the airport.

Scotland released the terminally ill prisoner on compassionate grounds. Obama took a strong stance against the decision and said he believes al-Megrahi should be put under house arrest in Libya.
