The National Republican Senatorial Committee reported today that it raised $5.14 million in March, and has $15 million on hand. In March 2008, the NRSC raised $4.2 million.
It’s also much less than the $6 million the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee raised in March. The Democratic group also has $2.3 million more in cash on hand.
NRSC Executive Director Rob Jesmer released this statement about the March numbers:
“An increasing number of once-safe Democrat Senate seats have become very competitive races, and it is critical that Republicans have the resources to compete and win in November. Thanks to the Democrats’ decision to ram their reckless tax-and-spend agenda through Congress, we have successfully added more than 240,000 first-time supporters to the NRSC donor rolls and increased our fundraising by nearly 25 percent more than last cycle. We deeply appreciate this growing support and are committed to doing everything possible to helping our Senate Republican candidates win in November.”
