President Trump’s Thursday schedule made no mention of a highly anticipated meeting expected to determine the fate of deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein.
Trump had hinted at a Wednesday evening press conference that he might postpone the sit-down to avoid “competing” with the hearing for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who is accused of sexual assault.
Trump also told reporters that he may allow Rosenstein to stay put, telling reporters that his “preference would be to keep him.”
This about-face comes after a frenetic Monday in which rumors flew that Rosenstein was either resigning or being fired following reports that he’d discussed trying to oust Trump from office in 2017.
