Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will give lawmakers a classified briefing Thursday on his decision to ease sanctions on companies tied to Russian oligarch and Vladimir Putin ally Oleg Deripaska, NBC News reported.

On Dec. 19, Mnuchin announced that the U.S. would be easing sanctions on Deripaska-associated businesses.

According to two top Democratic aides who spoke to NBC, House Democrats are hoping to home in on Mnuchin as a source of information for both the Russia probe and other investigations into Trump’s financial dealings and the Trump Organization.

Why is anyone talking about easing sanctions on Putin’s crime syndicate? Collusion?

Keep an eye on this. I suspect everyone’s least favorite elf, Sessions, is going to be hauled back to D.C for a similar discussion or two before the House.

EDIT TO ADD: I think we will be seeing the House investigations are going to start working early to build the case for the public regarding Trump’s Russian deals well before Mueller drops any final report.

The last time this guy talked he basically tried to put out a kitchen fire with a bucket of bacon grease

  5. I was under the impression that the sanctions will be lifted on EON+, Rusal and EuroSibEnergo, but the personal sanctions on Deripaska would stay in place. This is news.
