WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas judge is standing by his earlier ruling that Secretary of State Kris Kobach has no legal right to bar people who register to vote using a federal form from voting in local and state elections.
This week, Shawnee County District Judge Franklin Theis (Tice) rejected Kobach’s request to reconsider his January decision, which came after the executive director of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission required proof-of-citizenship on the national voter registration form in Kansas, Georgia and Alabama.
The court previously said the right to vote under Kansas law is not tied to the method of registration.
It is unclear what impact the ruling will have on Kobach’s instructions this week to allow thousands of people who register at motor vehicle offices without citizenship documents to vote only in federal races.

This guy doesn’t give up. He must be mentally ill.
Obsession … thy name is Kobach —
I don’t believe asking this guy to pinky-swear as he’s expected to do in following the law is going to be enough. I hope there is some kind of serious oversight to whatever this fucker ends up doing. He’s intent on suppressing the vote. That’s kinda his thing.
I read a great article at DailyKos last night about a healthcare company leaving Brownback’s Kansas. Its really a thing of beauty actually. The CEO gave the Gov. a piece of his mind before choosing to pack it up and leave the state.
And even the comments were quite good for this article. Seems Kossacks in general are beginning to get over their left-over primary angst. I would say a lot of them are approaching the 3rd stage (bargaining) of dealing with the grief.
Yes, unless Kobach is slapped and hard, watch this wily coyote attempt to still disenfranchise lots of KS voters. I do hope the court and some anti-Brownback organizations closely monitor Kobach’s expected bad moves before the election, especially any written order he will surreptitiously send to his right leaning minions who run the election boards and voting sites in KS.
