If former CNN host Rick Sanchez doesn’t like it when Jon Stewart makes fun of him, calling him a “bigot” probably didn’t help much.

At Comedy Central’s annual “Night Of Too Many Stars” autism fundraiser over the weekend, Stewart, who was hosting, addressed Sanchez’s “bigot” comment, and his implication that the Jews run the news networks. “All [Sanchez] has to do is apologize,” Stewart said, “and we’ll hire him back.”

Gossip Cop reports:

Stewart advised the crowd at the Beacon Theatre that if they felt guilty, for example, having dented a friend’s car, they should give the autism fundraiser $50. And if they felt guilty for cheating in some manner, donating $500 to the benefit would make them feel better.

“If you went on the radio and said the Jews control the media,” said Stewart in a pointed jab at Sanchez, “In that case… you may want to hold on to your money,”

Later, Late Show host David Letterman made a surprise appearance, and said he was only in New York because he was “helping Rick Sanchez clean out his office.”

Sanchez was fired from CNN last Friday after his comments on Pete Dominick’s radio show about Stewart. Sanchez also said of Stewart being Jewish:

I’m telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority? Yeah.

“Night Of Too Many Stars” airs on Comedy Central on October 21.
