Jon Stewart doesn’t think it’s fair for Republicans to complain about being disparaged by Democrats if they’re going to keep doing the exact same thing to Democrats.
On Tuesday night, Stewart played a clip of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) scolding Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for labeling the Tea Party as “extreme.” In that clip, Sessions says he is offended that Schumer would insult an entire group of people with such a demeaning label.
“Pejoratively labeling your political opponents should be out of bounds, say the Republicans, for Democrats,” Stewart said.
Apparently though, that same standard did not work the other way around, according to Stewart. To prove his point, he then played a quick compilation of prominent Republicans — including Sessions — calling Obama and Democrats radical socialists.
