Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) had an interesting perspective today on President Obama’s plans for the remaining TARP funds, and warned him against using “unspent TARP money as a slush fund.”

On MSNBC, Grassley pointed out that “the TARP money was appropriated for a very specific purpose.”

He continued: Though “the question of helping small businesses is very legitimate,” Grassley doesn’t “think that the president should see unspent TARP money as a slush fund for the president to do whatever he wants to do with it.”

Instead, Grassley said, the remaining money should go through the regular appropriations process, “and not just have the president grabbing a bag of money.”
