Fox News’s Geraldo Rivera attributed his own intelligence to his dabbling this week in the conspiracy theory that Democrats planted pipe bombs among their own to galvanize their voters and embarrass President Donald Trump.

As recently as Thursday night, Rivera was calling the bomb scares a “heavy-handed” “elaborate hoax” intended to make Trump look bad.

Cesar Sayoc, a middle-aged Floridian who drove a van plastered with pro-Trump, anti-Democrat decals, was arrested Friday morning in connection to the attempted attacks.
