Rachel Maddow played a radio clip on her show Friday night of former President George H.W. Bush calling MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann and Maddow “sick puppies.”

Bush was apparently trying to explain to a radio interviewer why there was a lack of civility in politics today.

“I don’t like it,” Bush said. “I think the cables have a lot to do with it.”

And it’s not just the right. There’s plenty of people on the left.

The former president then offered to give a couple examples. “Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow,” he said. “I mean here are a couple of sick puppies.”

He continued: “The way they treat my son and treat anybody who’s opposed to their point of view is just horrible.”
