Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on ABC’s This Week today that the United States hasn’t had good intelligence on Osama bin Laden’s location in years.
“We don’t know for a fact where Osama bin Laden is,” Gates said. “If we did, we’d go get him.”
George Stephanopoulos asked when the last time Gates had good intelligence on bin Laden’s location was.
Gates: I think it’s been years.
Stephanopoulos: Years?
Gates: I think so.
Just as National Security Adviser James Jones said earlier on CNN, Gates said he thinks bin Laden is in north Waziristan.
“It is an area that the Pakistani government has not had a presence in in quite some time,” Gates said.
