DETROIT (AP) — Eminem has unleashed a lyrical tirade against President Donald Trump, saying he “came to stomp.”
The rapper took aim at Trump in a 4½-minute freestyle rap video that aired as part of BET’s Hip Hop Awards on Tuesday night. Eminem focused several times on Trump’s ongoing campaign against NFL national anthem protests, rapping: “so we focus on that instead of talking Puerto Rico or gun reform for Nevada. All these horrible tragedies and he’s bored and would rather cause a Twitter storm with the Packers.” Eminem also derided Trump as “a kamikaze who will probably cause a nuclear holocaust.”
Eminem closed the piece by saying people who don’t support the president love the military and the country, but “hate Trump.”
The White House didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
wow this AP annoucnement is so uninspired. Go watch the video, it’s only four and a half minutes long: YouTube
It starts out kind of shaky but builds to an incredible performance. There’s so much emotion, you can feel the rage in his words. No hint of a dead mechanical performance people have complained about in the recent past, Eminem is livid. LIVID.
And this isn’t just about Trump ignoring issues to stoke his own ego like the AP piece is implying. There is a ton of social commentary packed into this piece centered around racial issues, minority injustice, and white supremecy. And the main theme is that Trump is a weak ineffectual leader making these issues worse. And the closing remarks that I got out of the video echo JFK’s misquote, that being neutral is siding with oppression, so you’re either against Trump or with his fans.
I did want to add this comment I saw

And I’ll just close with a few lines the internet has found especially remarkable:

Guess he’s off the christmas card list.
Palin, KR and Nugent, however, …
I saw it in real time last night, and I completely agree with your assessment. It was nothing short of brilliant, delivered by literally the only person on the planet who could’ve done it and with such heft. Just unbelievable.
Never been a big fan of rap and . . . Wow. That was a powerful statement.
I’m not really a fan of rap music. But I just became a fan of Eminem.
