Dina Powell, former deputy national security adviser and Goldman Sachs executive, has pulled herself out of the running to replace Nikki Haley as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Reuters and several other media outlets reported Thursday.

A source told Reuters that Powell called President Trump personally to thank him for considering her for the post, but she said she wanted to continue with her work at Goldman Sachs. Powell left the Trump administration, citing an interest in spending more time with her family.

While several outlets reported that Powell was the preferred candidate for the job, Trump would only say that she was “certainly” under consideration when pressed by reporters earlier this week. The White House is considering several other candidates for the job, including U.S. Ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft and Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, a source told Reuters.

Aides are encouraging Trump to nominate a female, Politico reported.

  1. understandable on a lot of levels.
But why work that hard when the cushy job she has with the “family” at the goldman building is just peachy. lol
Besides, working for trump defines a career coming to an end.

  2. Going to work for Trump is sort of like being the used up, syphilitic whore that’s reduced to blowing homeless men under bridges for the occasional cigarette.

  3. Do you think she leaked this to multiple media outlets before or after she told Trump?

  4. Sometimes, even a dung beetle knows when a turd is too far gone.

  5. “Hello Mr. President. I’m afraid I won’t be able to take the job.
I prefer doing evil in the private sector.
But I thank you for your consideration. ________What am I wearing? Ummmm… Goodbye Sir, it’s been an honor to talk with you.”
