Rep. Pete Stark openly mocked some Minutemen at a town hall meeting last week, asking the anti-immigration activists, “Who are you going to kill today?” and referring to one audience member as a “wacko.”

Stark (D-CA) was at a town hall meeting in Fremont, CA, on June 26, and apparently a number of the attendees were members of the Minuteman group, which enlists members to guard the U.S. borders in order to prevent illegal immigration.

One attendee argued that it’s the government’s job to protect the borders, not the Minutemen’s. Stark then lampooned the activists, saying that he’d “try to get you some more arms” so Minutemen could go down to the border “to shoot people.”

When someone brought up building a fence along the border, Stark said, somewhat incomprehensibly, that once the fence is built, “We’ll go and start a ladder company. But I gotta know how high that wall is, and I’ll sell a whole lotta ladders.”

An attendee scolded Stark for making fun of this very serious problem, but that didn’t faze the Congressman: “I don’t have to make fun of you, sir, you do a fine job all by yourself.”

Here’s the video, which was edited and uploaded by The Golden Gate Minuteman (hence the subtitles). The fireworks start right at the beginning:
