WASHINGTON (AP) — The mayor of Washington, D.C., has written a letter to President Donald Trump asking him to end the partial federal government shutdown.
WTOP-FM reports Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Wednesday letter says the city, its residents and its businesses will severely suffer if the shutdown continues.
A quarter of the federal government shut down Saturday in a long-running fight over funding for Trump’s promised U.S.-Mexico border wall. About 420,000 federal workers have been deemed essential and are working unpaid, while another 380,000 are furloughed.
The mayor said Sunday that the city will remain open and take over certain responsibilities for handicapped federal agencies, such as trash removal and snow clearing. The letter says trash removal alone on federally-owed parks will cost the city about $46,000 a week.
Trump and the Republicans view that as a feature, not a bug.
Trump’s ego does not recognize suffering other than his own.
Ask Donnie if he gives a rat’s ass.
There we go… it’s starting to hurt, lets give Trump everything he wants… you can’t win if you are not willing to fight, and you can’t fight if you are not willing to withstand pain.
There is a difference why the republicans win so much. They have much higher threshold for pain. See the midwest farmers, hurt by the trade wars, they are being hurt but for most part they remain steadfast with their support for Trump and understand that there are casualties in war.
Instead of whining they should the democrats should make things uncomfortable for Trump. How about if workers on furlong and others affected, buy themselves a yellow vest and start protesting in front of the White House? Make the president uncomfortable enough request help from DC to keep protester of the streets.
In good US news, unfortunately probably related to global warming.
