NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a 24-year-old man tried to scale the facade of New York’s famed Four Seasons Hotel and plunged nine stories to his death.

The NYPD says Conner Cummings, of Rockaway, New Jersey, tried to climb a scaffold on the outside of the 42-story hotel at about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday.

He fell to one of the lower rooftops of the structure and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Cummings was apparently not a guest at the hotel.

A Four Seasons reception desk staff member said there was no immediate comment from the hotel.
