Former FBI Director James Comey weighed in on speculation that Trump-appointed acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker may take steps to derail special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe by criticizing Whitaker’s intelligence, but also offering that Whitaker “knows” he can’t shut down the investigation.
“I think it’s a worry, but to my mind, not a serious worry,” Comey told a Boston NPR affiliate, WGBH. “The institution is too strong and he frankly is not strong enough to have that kind of impact. He may not be the sharpest knife in our drawer, but he can see his future and knows that if he acted in an extra legal way, he would go down in history for the wrong reasons and I’m sure he doesn’t want that.”

Lordy, I hope they’re japes…
Oooh, ouch. Please respond, Mr Whitaker.
I mean, nothing like “Iowa tight end” to get me thinking of the best and the brightest our country has to offer.
Whitaker might just be smart enough and in possession of enough willpower to not be provoked into rash derpitude by this dialog, but I know for a fact his boss isn’t.
Well, mee—YOW. He thought for a long few moments there before speaking, and decided to try to rattle Whitaker a little.
I guess Whitaker made it through Law School so he can’t be all that stupid, but again Michael Cohen did too.
