If only Republicans could convince that stick figure on road signs to run for president, they could totally beat Obama.

On Tuesday night, Stephen Colbert noted how polls have shown Obama beating every named GOP candidate, yet losing to a generic, unnamed challenger. With that in mind, he announced that he’d found the GOP’s best possible candidate while looking at a road sign.

“He’s got everything you could want. He’s got a strong stride, he’s well known, plus hes a family man,” Colbert said.

“And as you can see from the briefcase, hes got business experience,” he added.

Then cycling through various road signs, Colbert concocted the compelling backstory of the stick figure man who could unseat Obama.

“He was a promising young athlete, who got a little drunk one night, slipped and fell, was in a wheelchair for a while, but got back on his feet and now holds a world record in running down stairs past fires,” he said.
