Try as he might, Stephen Colbert couldn’t keep himself from covering the juicy details of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s sex scandal last night.
“I hate to disappoint you, but I am not touching this one,” Colbert said. “It’s a private matter between Arnold, and his family, and his other family.”
But when he turned to the debate over subsidies for big oil companies, Colbert struggled to stay focused. As he droned on with details about the subsidies, he became more distracted, ultimately leaping with renewed vigor back to the sex story.
“Republicans argue that rather than blaming big oil for record profits, Congress should be focused on increasing domestic energy production and — are you telling me no one knew it was his kid?” Colbert said.
“It was probably born with a 40-inch chest. And forget the Caesarian. It probably shot it’s way out,” he added.
This back and forth went on for some time until Colbert finally got himself under control. Yet even then, while his corporeal self kept reading about Congress, an ethereal Colbert turned to another camera and leapt back into a wide-eyed monologue about the former California governor.
