A member of the 15-man assassination squad suspected of killing journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul was captured on camera wearing the writer’s clothes, a fake beard and glasses the day he was slain in an apparent attempt to be a body double.

According to a Monday CNN report, Turkish officials said that the impersonator was Mustafa al-Madani, who was sent to Istanbul to pose as the journalist due to their similar heights and builds.

“You don’t need a body double for a rendition or an interrogation,” the official told CNN. “Our assessment has not changed since October 6. This was a premeditated murder and the body was moved out of the consulate.”

“Khashoggi’s clothes were probably still warm when Madani put them on,” the official added.
