Some Republican lawmakers in Arizona still want to see President Obama’s birth certificate.
A bill that would require presidential candidates to submit documentation proving their citizenship before they can appear on Arizona’s ballot won initial approval from the state House last night.
The idea for the measure originally came from Skull Valley Republican Judy Burges. All of the proposal’s 40 co-sponsors are Republicans. Burges did not immediately respond to TPM’s request for comment.
The bill still needs final approval from the House, and in the state Senate, before it goes to Gov. Jan Brewer (R).
