Right-wing “news” site World Net Daily is happy to inform its readers that former Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin will be released from military prison in three weeks, and they too can be a part of the celebration by attending the “Terry Lakin Homecoming Event.”

Lakin was dismissed from the Army and sent to a military prison for six months after a court martial found him guilty of refusing orders to deploy to Afghanistan. He refused on the grounds that he believes President Obama may not be eligible to be Commander-In-Chief because of questions about his birthplace.

The Terry Lakin Action Fund, an organization set up to help organize Lakin’s legal defense, is planning the party for when Lakin returns to Baltimore on May 14, and is hoping to get a few hundred people to greet him when he arrives at the airport. “All we ask you to do is bring a home-made poster that says, ‘Welcome Home Terry.’ or ‘Thank You Terry’ or any appropriate messages about the issue. Bring a small US flag if you have one,” the site says.

And the pro-birther site World Net Daily is on board, writing one article that informs readers of the event: “You can join welcome home for Army doc jailed over Obama’s hidden birth certificate.”

World Net Daily had been a staunch supporter of Lakin throughout the trial, repeatedly interviewing him and his attorney about the charges. One post described his sentencing thusly: “Breaking the law in service of a greater good has proven very costly for Lt. Col. Terrence L. Lakin.”
