Wall Street traders have a message for the “Occupy Wall Street” movement: they get it!
CNN’s Alison Kosik reported this morning that she’s been talking to traders since the movement started a few weeks ago and they’ve told her they understand their frustrations.
“They truly empathize and understand the frustrations. They’re equally frustrated as the folks out there on the park are right now,” Kosik said.
“You know, they have also had wit the gridlock in Washington and the state of economy as well,” Kosik said. “The traders I talked to, they want the protestors to understand they’re getting hit hard in this economy as well. They’re facing layoffs in the tens of thousands in the financial industry. If you look at the trading floor here, it has fewer people than ever before, because it’s more electronic.
“But once again, they understand that the New York Stock Exchange is the symbol of American capitalism,” she continued.
“Occupy Wall Street is targeting Wall Street. Traders are really the face of Wall Street, the face of the financial system. The traders say they understand the protesters need a place to go to air their grievances,” she said.
