Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL), in the midst of defending his state’s controversial purge of voter rolls, knows a thing or two about being improperly identified as ineligible.

The Associated Press reports that Scott said in a radio interview on Thursday that he once had to cast a provisional ballot because elections officials thought he was dead.

Collier County election officials confirmed to the AP that Scott cast provisional ballots in two elections in 2006.

The Justice Department sued Florida for its voter list purge earlier this week, alleging the state was violating the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).
