You know, Herman Cain isn’t the only man in America getting bullied. And if you ask Stephen Colbert, it has to stop.
But sometimes, well-meaning people go too far, he said, and anti-bullying laws just “replace the schoolyard bully with the bully of big government.”
Luckily, though, Michigan Republicans have added an amendment to the state’s anti-bullying law that allows for bullying based on “moral convictions” or religious reasons.
“Thank goodness Michigan Senate Republicans stepped in, pantsed that law, and stuffed it in a locker,” Colbert said. “Bullying is just fine, as long as you get a permission slip from god.”
So now, if you’re a Christian teenager in the state, you can simply call a swirly a baptism, Colbert said.. Republicans in the Michigan state House earlier this week said the final law probably won’t go as far as the Senate version. But Colbert worries that if the law goes into full-effect, “next November, those voters might pick on them.”
