A man in Montgomery County, Miss. was arrested after he allegedly ran down the street naked, jumped on the back of a deputy, and stole a patrol car, the Jackson Clarion-Ledger newspaper reported on Wednesday.
On Sunday, a resident reportedly told a deputy that a man was “running up and down” the street naked. William Shawn Mann, 27, allegedly jumped on the hood of a patrol car before getting on the roof and jumping on the back of the deputy who was investigating the complaint, the paper reported.
Montgomery County Sheriff Bubba Nix told the paper the incident was among the weirdest things to ever happen in the County.
“It’s at the top of the list,” Nix said.
The sheriff also told the paper that, after tousling with Mann, the deputy was finally able to free himself.
“He drew his taser and shot him and he kept coming towards him and he put in another cartridge and shot him again,” Nix said. “When he got him on the ground to try to subdue him, two state troopers got there.”
After troopers arrived on the scene, Mann was again shocked with a Taser while the three officers struggled to handcuff him. However, Mann got free and stole a patrol car which he eventually wrecked, the Clarion-Ledger reported.
Mann was finally arrested after he unsuccessfully attempted to steal a truck from some bystanders.
“He fought the whole time we took him to the hospital. We got him to the jail around 4 a.m.,” Nix told the paper.
Mann allegedly had cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine in his system. The Clarion-Ledger reported that Mann was still in jail and had been charged with three counts of simple assault on law enforcement, grand larceny and felony malicious mischief.
