I can’t top that. I was just going to type that I would pass on watching or listening as imagining Donald Trump and (even a statue of) President Lincoln in the same place is nauseating.
I won’t be watching either. Hearing that braying voice has become increasingly toxic to me. And to be honest I hesitated to use that image because Bill Mauldin drew it after Kennedy was shot and the tragic poetry of it seems a bit too noble for this different, tawdry kind of tragedy. But Lincoln was arguably our best President; he is being succeeded by a man some writer said recently “you would not hire to watch your dog,” a person nearly devoid of any worth at all. And he presumes to stand there and feel whatever sort of twisted pleasure he gets from all this. Makes you wish Lincoln would stand up with a terrible swift sword in his hand. But we’re Lincoln now. Whatever spirit of decency remains, we have to fix this. Just hope he’s watching somewhere.
“WATCH Trump speak!”
Sounds worse that gum surgery, but thanks all the same.
Hey it’s Beyoncé! I mean hey it’s Robby Drums and his rocket bots?
