Police have released surveillance video of an alleged assault on two Wichita State University students by a man who the students say yelled about his support for Donald Trump, local TV station KAKE reported Wednesday.

Khondoker Usama said he and his friend, who has chosen to remain anonymous, were attacked in the parking lot of a Kwik Shop convenience store near their campus early Saturday morning. Usama has alleged that the incident was a hate crime, and that the man called the pair “brown trash” and yelled “Trump will make America great again” during the incident.

Usama is a Muslim international student from Bangladesh, according to his LinkedIn profile, and he said his friend is Latino.

The surveillance video does not have audio, but the suspect can be seen pulling up to Usama and his friend, getting off of his motorcycle and then walking up to Usama’s friend. The friend pushes the suspect away, at which point the suspect starts wildly kicking and throwing punches at the friend, knocking him to the ground.

Usama said it was clear that the man was “looking for a fight” and alleged the suspect had been harassing a black customer at the convenience store before turning his attention to them. He told KAKE that the incident was “absolutely traumatizing.”

Police launched an investigation into the incident but have not labeled it a hate crime, KAKE reported. The suspect has not been located yet, but police have asked him to step forward with his version of what happened in the Kwik Shop parking lot.
