President Donald Trump has picked the husband of top White House advisor Kellyanne Conway to lead the Justice Department’s Civil Division, according to several reports.
Trump will nominate George T. Conway III to lead the office charged with defending Trump’s executive order on immigration, according to reports by the New York Times and Fox News citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
Conway is a partner at Wall Street law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, per those reports, and was previously under consideration for other positions in Trump’s administration.
The Department of Justice referred TPM in an email to the White House, which did not immediately respond to TPM’s requests for comment.
Kelly knew that her “Buy Ivanka’s stuff!” line was going to be rewarded.
KAC: Can you give my husband a job?
Drumpf: How about the head of something or other?
KAC: That’d be swell.
Refilling the swamp?
Wouldn’t it be smarter to keep him accessible to the President as a lawyer for the president (not sure WH council is the one who acts in civil suits filed against the president), given his experience and involvement in arguing before the Supreme Court that a sitting president can indeed be sued/participate while carrying out the duties of President?
Keep it in the family.
