Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump was projected to win the Washington Republican primary on Tuesday night, NBC News and The Associated Press reported.
There were 44 delegates up for grabs in the state that will be awarded proportionally based on votes. Trump needs only 76 more delegates to obtain the 1,237 necessary to secure the nomination. He is expected to more than meet that threshold with future contests including those in California and New Jersey.
On the Democratic side, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) won more delegates in Washington than opponent Hillary Clinton.
He’ll break 1200 after everything is counted tonight … the other number I’m looking out is Kasich. A few more delegates, he will finally have more than Rubio! Always something to keep track of, even when there really isn’t any excitement left. Ten day break. Then, Puerto Rico/VI (D) and then the last Super Tuesday with D.C. coming the next Tuesday. Yeah, two/three more weeks!
No delegates at stake on the Democratic side, but I wonder how the Sanders camp will spin losing the popular vote in the non-binding primary By a wide margin ( assuming the totals hold ).
And Hillary won the D primary with 660,000 voters participating, but delegates will be based on the 26000 partcipants in the caucuses. But everything is soooo unfair to Bernie. The system is rigged in favor of Hillary – not.
Hey, TPM! How about mentioning that Hillary won the Primary in Washington! More than twice as many people voted in the Primary than the caucus and she won by something like 56%-44%.
The system is rigged, and that is what all the fuss is about… Think about how the super delegates picked the nominee before all candidates actually even filed papers to run. Whether it was Bernie Sanders or the other fellow ( I can’t honestly remember his name, but he was from Maryland) they received no superdelegates before the actual debates even started. I think that the rest of the states should follow Maine and Vermont’s lead and strip them from the convention and count the actual delegates that were won, and that my friend is what big D democracy is all about.
